Zunächst beginnt das Buch in Schottland, im zweiten Teil verschlägt es einen nach England und schließlich noch nach Virginia. Gerade den ersten und zweiten Teil fand ich sehr spannend und unterhaltsam, der dritte Abschnitt schwächelte in meinen Augen etwas und entpuppte sich mehr und mehr als Liebesabenteuer denn als historischer Roman – dennoch liest sich auch dieser Teil – wie bereits die beiden ersten – rasch und flüssig.
